My work is an investigation of the many ways we hold on to our histories. My process involves exploring interconnected family history, race, social issues, trauma, and my own sense of identity through the use of various mediums like painting, sculpture, and metal fabrication. With material such as worn clothing and family heirlooms, and found objects, I intertwine pieces of my history to notions of race, nostalgia, and memory; recontextualizing them. My goal as an artist is to create work that embodies both my personal history as well as commenting on what is happening now in the present.
